Snowmonster low-poly model
3D for Self, 3DVIA
January 2009
I originally started working on this model for a challenge 3DVIA was putting on for snowman models. I didn't quite finish the model in time for the contest, but I continued to work on it just to have more practice with low-poly modeling.
Working on this model was also a good opportunity for me to get more practice with Headus UVLayout, and use Mudbox on a production model for the first time.
I made the model as low-poly as I could, practicing my game modeling. The body mesh is 1118 triangles, and the extra parts (beer bottles, sticks, etc) are 2507 triangles; 3625 triangles in total, comfortably within the 3500-4000 triangle target I had set for myself.
The model is based on a real snowman I created last winter, and I always intended to make a model. Photos of the original (RL) creation included.
